3 part series on the rise of President Nasser and the fall of Prime Minister Anthony Eden during the 1956 Suez Crisis. 'Betrayal' traces the path that led to war. It is a story of occupation, resistance, war and politics, which marked the end of British imperial dominance and saw the rise of Arab nationalism and American influence. It is also a familiar tale of regime change and intervention, when western leaders attempt to reshape the Middle East.

Actors: James Fox as Prime Minister Anthony Eden, Patrick Malahide as President Eisenhower, Khaled El Sawy as President Nasser, Michael Cochrane as Selwyn Lloyd and Michael Elwyn as Harold Macmillan
